At Unique Minds, we’re all about effective functional communication and catering to individuals of all ages with diverse neurodevelopmental experiences.
Our Speech Pathologist offers practical and engaging therapies and group programmes designed to serve, support, and empower all our clients.
We provide therapy to clients who are: NDIS participants that are Plan and Self-Managed. We are also able to work with Private Paying, Medicare and Private health insurance clients. Operating from our office on the Gold Coast, Mobile Visits where available and online Australia wide.

We offer comprehensive communication assessments for children to better understand their strengths, challenges and support needs. Assessments may include standardised and non-standardised tools, observations and detailed recommendations tailored to the child’s individual profile.
Areas of assessment may include:
- Expressive and receptive language
- Speech sound development
- Social communication
- Literacy
- Fluency
- Voice
- Functional communication
Following assessment, families receive practical recommendations and a detailed report to support home, school and future intervention planning.
Please note: Ongoing therapy for children is not routinely offered. Our clinical focus is on supporting adolescents and adults with communication needs. Where appropriate, we are happy to recommend suitable therapists for ongoing intervention.

We provide personalised, evidence-informed and neuro-affirming speech pathology services for adolescents and adults with a wide range of communication needs. Our goal is to help every person communicate in the way that works best for them, build meaningful relationships, advocate for themselves, and participate confidently in everyday life.
Whether communication differences have been present from childhood or developed later in life, therapy is tailored to each individual’s strengths, goals and support needs. We work collaboratively with families, support workers, employers and other professionals to create practical strategies that make a real difference beyond the therapy room.

Every therapy plan is individualised and designed around what matters most to the person. Sessions may focus on building communication skills, increasing confidence, developing practical strategies, improving participation in work, education or the community, or supporting meaningful interactions with the people around them.

It is about expressing yourself, being understood, making choices, building relationships and participating in a meaningful life. Our role is to support each person to communicate to the best of their ability, in a way that respects their individuality, strengths and goals.

At Unique Minds Allied Health, we are committed to providing transparent and ethical billing practices. Before services commence, we will discuss your individual needs, recommended supports and billing arrangements so you have a clear understanding of what to expect.
We recognise that meaningful therapy often extends beyond the appointment itself. Where clinically appropriate and agreed upon, services may include assessment, intervention, report writing, resource development, review of information, collaboration with families, support workers and other professionals, clinical documentation, and other non-face-to-face activities that directly support your therapy goals and outcomes.
NDIS Participants
We welcome self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. Services are provided in accordance with your Service Agreement, with all billable supports discussed and agreed upon prior to delivery.
Private Clients
Private services are available for adolescents and adults. Fees and billing arrangements will be discussed prior to your initial appointment.
Where eligible, services may be accessed through Medicare with a valid referral or care plan, or claimed through your private health insurance, depending on your level of cover. Please note that a gap payment may apply.
Insurance and third party funding
Unique Minds Allied Health welcomes referrals funded through a range of insurance schemes and third-party organisations, including icare, NIISQ, WorkCover, DVA and other approved insurers.
As each funding body has its own requirements, billing arrangements, reporting and approval processes may vary. These will be discussed and confirmed prior to services commencing.
Where required, invoices, progress reports and other documentation can be provided in accordance with the requirements of the relevant funding body.
- Assessment & Reports:
Times are approximate your therapist will let you know your billing options at time of assessment.
- Assessment – Charged per hour, approx. 1.5 to 4 hours.
- Comprehensive reports approx. 3 to 6 hours.
- Letters of support or recommendation approx. 1-2 hours
- Travel Charges:
- Time spent on travel is billed at a per-minute rate, equivalent to the clinician’s hourly rate. (Up to 30 minutes) Back to base charges may be applied where applicable. Additionally, there is an extra charge of $1 per kilometre for mileage.
